What is a Squee:gee Window Celan?
There is more than one way to clean a window well.
Some exterior windows are best cleaned with purified water from the ground. Others need a traditional hand clean. Height, access, glass type and the condition of the window all play a part.
This page explains the Window Cleaning methods we use at Squee:gee, why we use them, and what you can expect when we clean your home.
300+ Five-star Google Reviews
Auckland homeowners trust the Squee:gee team because care is part of the standard, not an extra.
We do not force one method onto every window.
Squee:gee uses a combination of pure-water water-fed pole cleaning and traditional hand cleaning, depending on where the window is, how it can be safely reached and what will give the best result.
The method can change from one window to the next.
The Squee:gee Standard
PURE WATER CLEANING
PURE-WATER TECHNOLOGY
What is pure water?
Ordinary tap water contains dissolved minerals and impurities.
When tap water dries on glass, those minerals can remain behind as spots or residue.
Our pure-water system filters those impurities out before the water reaches your windows.
A water-fed brush is used to loosen dirt and grime from the exterior glass, frames and sills. The window is then thoroughly rinsed with purified water and left to dry naturally.
Because the minerals have been removed from the water, there is virtually nothing left behind to create the spotting you would usually expect from tap water.
Why we use it
Pure-water cleaning allows us to:
Clean exterior glass, frames and sills together
Reach many upper-storey windows from ground level
Reduce the need to lean ladders against your home
Rinse away loosened dirt without leaving detergent residue on the glass
Clean larger exterior areas efficiently while maintaining the finish we expect
It is particularly useful for many modern Auckland homes with high windows, large areas of glazing or awkward exterior access. Squee:gee currently uses water-fed pole technology for residential properties up to around three levels where access and conditions allow.
TRADITIONAL WINDOW CLEANING
HAND CLEANING
Sometimes the traditional way is still the right way.
Pure-water technology is useful, but it is not the answer for every window.
For interior windows and areas where a hand-finished approach makes more sense, we use traditional Window Cleaning tools and techniques.
That means working directly on the glass while taking care around floors, furniture, window furnishings and the rest of your home.
Interior Window Cleaning also gives us access to the parts you cannot reach from outside, including the interior frames and sills. included in the service.
Technology helps us reach more windows. Judgement tells us what’s best for your home’s windows, that’s the Squee:gee standard.
Window Cleaning FAQs
The method can change from one window to the next. The Squee:gee standard does not.
-
The glass is only one part of the window.
For a standard Interior & Exterior Window Clean, we take care of:
Interior and exterior glass
Frames and sills
Accessible cobwebs around the windows
Traditional or pure-water cleaning depending on the area
For Exterior Only Window Cleaning, we take care of:
Exterior glass
Exterior frames and sills
Accessible cobwebs
High exterior windows where they can be safely reached with our equipment
Pure-water cleaning where appropriate
French panes, balustrades, unusually glass-heavy homes and other specialist areas may need to be identified separately when booking.

There is no perfect schedule for every Auckland home.
How quickly your windows build up depends on where you live and what is around the property. Coastal exposure, trees, pollen, nearby construction, traffic and weather can all make a difference.
As a general guide, many homes suit two to four Window Cleans each year. Coastal homes may benefit from more frequent cleaning because salt can accumulate more quickly on the glass and surrounding frames.
If you would rather keep on top of it without having to remember each time, our Maintenance Plans can schedule regular care around your home.
-
For an exterior-only clean, the main thing is clear access around the windows. For an Interior & Exterior Window Clean, we also ask that fragile items are removed from window sills and that we can comfortably access the glass inside your home.
-
For exterior-only Window Cleaning, usually not. As long as we have the access we need around the outside of your home, the service can generally be completed without you being there. Interior Window Cleaning requires access inside the property.
-
Rain does not automatically make properly cleaned windows dirty. If the weather means the booked work cannot be completed safely or to the standard required, we will contact you about the next step.
-
Because different windows need different tools. Pure-water cleaning lets us wash the exterior glass, frames and sills while reaching many high windows safely from ground level. Traditional squeegee cleaning is still used where it is the better approach.
-
The water used through our pure-water system is filtered water. The filtration process removes the dissolved minerals and impurities that can cause spotting when ordinary tap water dries.
-
That is part of the pure-water process. Once the glass has been scrubbed and thoroughly rinsed with purified water, it is left to dry naturally. Because the dissolved minerals have been removed, the water should not leave the mineral residue associated with untreated tap water.
-
Yes, many of them. Our water-fed pole system allows us to clean many residential windows up to around three levels high from ground level, subject to safe access and the individual property.
Our water-fed pole system reduces the need for ladders on many exterior windows. The exact approach depends on the property and window. We use the method that allows the work to be completed appropriately and safely.

Clean glass and perfect glass are not always the same thing.
Window Cleaning removes what is sitting on the surface. It cannot reverse something that has become part of the glass itself.
Once dirt and grime are removed, you may still see:
Hard-water or mineral staining
Scratches
Failed glazing seals
Damage to coatings or films
Permanent marks or etching
Wear that was harder to see when the glass was dirty
Sometimes a proper clean actually makes existing imperfections more visible.
If we see something that looks like damage or permanent staining rather than ordinary dirt, we would rather explain what we are looking at than pretend another pass will solve it.
-
Not every mark is dirt. Mineral staining, scratches, damaged coatings, failed seals or etching may remain once the window itself is clean. If we identify something that appears permanent, we will let you know.
-
Yes. Frames and sills are part of our standard Window Cleaning service. Tracks are included with Interior & Exterior Window Cleaning.
-
Yes, but French panes can involve significantly more individual glass sections than a standard window. Let us know when booking so they can be allowed for in the service and price.
-
We can clean glass balustrades where they are included in the booking. Glass-heavy properties and extensive balustrades may sit outside the standard residential pricing.
-
Many tinted and coated windows can be cleaned, but films and specialist coatings vary. Tell us about them when booking so we can choose the appropriate method.
